As life continuously changes and flows, we can choose to cooperate with each present moment, or we can choose to resist them or try and hold onto them, both of which causes suffering.

Our negative emotions and suffering are brought on by the thoughts we are thinking that come from conditioned beliefs, and not from what is actually happening. By recognizing the conditioned thinking over and over, we can become free from the suffering.
